Friends of Alum Creek & Tributaries (FACT) will hold a recreational canoe float long the Alum Creek river, on Saturday, June 19 starting 9 AM, departing from St. Mary of the Springs/ Dominican Sisters of Peace lower parking lot, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH.
Volunteers are needed to help FACT clean-up the waterway of trash and debris. Be prepared to get wet and dirty, wear sturdy watershoes (no flip-flops) or work boots and appropriate clothing. The leisurely group tour of 2.5 river miles will disembark at Academy Park - 250 S. Nelson Rd (south of E. Broad St) by north parking lot.
BYOB, bring you own boat - canoe or kayak. (FACT members receive free priority seating on loaner canoes.) NOTE: Effective 6/16/10 the limited number of free canoe loaners have all been reserved. The mission of Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries (FACT) is to preserve and protect the quality and beauty of the Alum Creek watershed and promote environmentally responsible recreation, educational opportunities, and citizen participation at many levels. FACT is a local not-for-profit volunteer based organization serving as the environmental steward for the Alum Creek lower watershed within Franklin and Delaware counties.
