Friends of Alum Creek & Tributaries (FACT) is looking for volunteers to help remove invasive honeysuckle bushes and clean-up trash from within Westerville's Boyer Nature Preserve on Saturday, October 23 starting 9:00 AM at 452 E. Park Street, Westerville, OH. This is being held in conjuction with national Make a Difference Day.
Wetlands in an urban environment are rare and serve as natural habitat for a large variety of wildlife species such as frogs, turtles, snakes, fish, birds, and unusual acquatic plants and diverse insects.
Meet at park entrance located at the corner of Park & Orchard Streets. Please wear work clothes (long pants) and sturdy shoes or work boots. Bring gloves, shovels, loppers, bow saws if you have them, other tools will be available. Beverages and some snacks will be provided to volunteers.
MAD Scientist & Associates LLC and Westerville Parks and Recreations are also supporting this group service project.
The mission of Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries (FACT) is to preserve and protect the quality and beauty of the Alum Creek watershed and promote environmentally responsible recreation, educational opportunities, and citizen participation at many levels. FACT is a local non-profit volunteer based organization serving as the environmental steward for the Alum Creek lower watershed within Franklin and Delaware counties.
