North Linden Area Commission

Eugene "Gus" Newport is a Seasoned professional with deep successful experience in public administration and policy development, including all aspects of community building and economic development. He will be speaking on Thursday April 16^th 2009 at 6:30(  Linden Recreation Center 1254 Briarwood) during the North Linden Area Commission meeting. This meeting is open to the public.

This former mayor of Berkeley, Ca. 1979-1986 has been highly effective in a variety of settings: Assessing and selecting different cities to participate in a Community Building Intermediary Program.  Working with selected nonprofit organizations to assist in enhancing their skills in data development, leadership skills, facilitation skills and organizing skills. In addition, he will assist organizations with strategic planning methods for community building, documentation and fundraising, using public and private funds. Educating low income neighborhoods to assist them in the development of neighborhood master plans to correct deficiencies. The goal is to bring breadth of experience, contacts and influence into a comprehensive community building situation, to help create a powerful new model for inner-city redevelopment.
