ProMusica closes its Josephinum Series with An ’09 Celebration
ProMusica returns to the Josephinum for its final series concert of the 2008-2009 season. The concert entitled Handel, Haydn & Mendelssohn: An ’09 Celebration will be presented by a ProMusica quartet on Saturday, April 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pontifical College Josephinum in the St. Turibius Chapel in Worthington.
The intimate performance will take the audience back to the roots of chamber music by featuring a ProMusica string quartet composed of Marjorie Bagley, violin; Shanna Swaringen, violin; Mary Harris, viola; and Cora Kuyvenhoven, cello.
Enjoy a repertoire designed to celebrate the pleasure of home music-making in ProMusica’s own second home. The night begins with Handel’s baroque-inspired Trio Sonata in C minor. Then the quartet will perform the inventive and firey Quartet in D minor by Haydn. Mendelssohn follows with his brilliant and moving Quartet in E-flat major.
The night closes with an expressive and energetic Quartet in G minor by Haydn.
Tickets for the Josephinum performance are $30 general admission. Call 614.464.0066 or visit www.promusicacolumbus.org for tickets.
