The Westerville Symphony at Otterbein University kicks off the 4th of July holiday with its Sounds of Freedom concert on Sunday, June 30th at 6:30 pm. The concert takes place at the Amphitheater at Alum Creek Park and is part of the Westerville Community Concert series.
Featured on this concert is Westerville’s very own Cabot Rea who will sing several selections, notably Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait and Peter Schickele’s American Birthday Card. He will also sing several patriotic arrangements by James Kessler which includes gorgeous renditions of American the Beautiful and God Bless America. The concert also has patriotic favorites like John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, and the iconic Armed Forces Salute. We will also mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landing with a suite from the acclaimed HBO mini-series Band of Brothers.
These free summer concerts are favorites of the Westerville community every year and is a perfect opportunity to pack a picnic and kick off the 4th of July.
