Space is limited for this fundraiser and registration is required
A portion of your registration fee supports ongoing restoration projects at the cemetery. The tour is largely outside, so we can remain adequately socially distanced for safety. You may also bring a face mask if you prefer.
The tour will be narrated by historian Randy Rogers, who also serves as the Executive Director of Green Lawn Cemetery Association. A fun, relaxing tour for anyone wants to learn about the local history contained in the cemetery. An exceptional tour with an exceptional guide.
The tour begins and ends outside of Green Lawn Abbey, a mausoleum that opened in 1929, fell into disrepair, and is now being beautifully restored.
The tour then proceeds by bike through Green Lawn Cemetery--one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Ohio. Green Lawn Cemetery represents a vast treasure, encompassing more than 200 years of history and is the resting place of many prominent Columbus residents, including the families of four U.S. Presidents. The tour will stop at several locations for short, informative talks about notable graves, monuments, family mausoleums, and chapels.
Columbus Outdoor Pursuits provides easy-to-ride cruiser style bikes and helmets, or you may bring your own bike and helmet (please indicate on the registration). Please allow at least 2 hours for the entire tour. Free parking is available at Green Lawn Abbey, 700 Greenlawn Avenue -- the start and end point of the tours.
Cancellation: If unsafe weather is occuring or imminent (thunderstorms, high winds, lightening) we will reschedule the tour, or provide you with a full refund.
