This is a fundraiser and registration is required. A portion of the $25 registration fee supports restoration projects in the cemetery.
The tour will be narrated by historian Randy Rogers, who also serves as the Executive Director of Green Lawn Cemetery Association. A interesting and relaxing tour for anyone wants to learn about the history contained in this icionic cemetery. An exceptional tour with an exceptional guide.
Location: The tour starts and finishes outside Green Lawn Abbey, a mausoleum that opened in 1929, fell into disrepair, and is now being beautifully restored.
The tour then proceeds by bike through Green Lawn Cemetery -- one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Ohio. It represents a vast treasure, encompassing more than 200 years of history and is the resting place of many prominent Columbus residents, including the families of a few U.S. Presidents. The tour will stop at several locations for informative talks about notable graves, monuments, family mausoleums, and more.
Bikes: Columbus Outdoor Pursuits can provide you with an easy-to-ride cruiser style bike and helmet (free of charge). Or you may bring your own bike and helmet (please indicate when you register online). All riders must wear a helmet on this tour.
Time: About 2 hours
COVID-19 Safety: The tour is largely outside, so we can remain comfortably physically distanced for safety. Bring a face mask. Group size is capped at 10 people. Our bikes and helmets are sanitized.
Parking: Free at Green Lawn Abbey, 700 Greenlawn Avenue -- the start and end point of the tours.
Cancellation: If unsafe weather is occuring or imminent (thunderstorms, lightning, torrential rain) we will reschedule the tour, or provide you with a full refund.
