The Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society is bringing back the High Street Stompers to the Clintonville Woman's Club, on Sunday, May 15th from 2 pm - 5 pm, to play hot (New Orleans-style) jazz. Formed in 1987 when all the original members were professors in the School of Music at The Ohio State University, this is one of the most polished trad jazz bands anywhere. The band includes Milo Mannino on trumpet, Michael Cox on clarinet, Vaughn Wiester on trombone, Sid Townsend on tuba and string bass, Jim Rupp on drums, and Paul Robinson on banjo and vocals. The day will also feature a free swing dance lesson at 1 pm prior to the show, led by Shannon Varner of SwingColumbus. Admission is only $10 for the general public (payable at the door), $5 for COHJS and SwingColumbus members, and FREE to music students and music educators. All other students at $5.
