Thurber House is pleased to welcome 2014 Thurber Prize for American Humor winner John Kenney back to kick off the season. He won the Thurber Prize for his hilarious debut novel, Truth in Advertising, a wickedly funny and moving story about the absurdity of corporate life. He will discuss his latest books, Talk to Me and Love Poems for Married People.
Talk to Me is a sharply observed, darkly funny, and ultimately warm story about a man who wakes up too late to the mess he’s made of his life, and about the human capacity for forgiveness and empathy. It was named one of Southern Living’s Best New Books of Winter 2019. Love Poems for Married People is based on Kenney’s hugely popular New Yorker piece that became one of the most shared of all time. He has been a contributor to The New Yorker magazine since 1999. Some of his work appears in a collection of The New Yorker‘s humor writing, Disquiet, Please!
This is a Thurber@125 Year of Thurber event, celebrating James Thurber's 125th birthday and the 35th anniversary of Thurber House.
