Using Imitation as Inspiration

Monday, February 26 - 6:00 PM

Oscar Wilde once said that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” But imitation is also a form of learning. In this session we’ll learn how to mimic our favorite authors’ passages as a springboard to bring our own writing to life. We’ll model these passages to create more vivid scenes, characters and dialogue—in our own words. We’ll explore various passages from well-known books with hands-on writing exercises. Bring a passage or two from your favorite author. You just might surprise yourself!
