Westerville Symphony Performs MW 2

Westerville’s own Siwoo Kim joins us for the gorgeous and sublime Beethoven Violin Concerto. A monumental work written in 1794, it didn’t find its footing in the classical canon until the mid-1800’s. Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony #9, written in 1945, is a satirical work and the opposite of what Josef Stalin was expecting. If there was ever a composer able to challenge an authoritative leader it was Shostakovich and interwoven in many of his works are clever snubs of Stalin.
