Creativity, Mechanics, and Motivation for Writers
Instructors: Nicole M. Gnezda, PhD and Melissa Weber, MA
Join creativity consultant Nicole M. Gnezda, PhD and writing instructor Melissa L. Weber, MA for a unique master class that will help you tap into your creative resources, give you techniques to improve your craft, and offer you an opportunity to share your work with your classmates. You will develop a deeper understanding of the creative process, learn to generate better ideas, receive editing and grammar tips, and work with two professionals to develop your voice and writing style. Nicole will discuss the why, where, and how of creative ideas to help students better understand their creative personalities, thinking styles, and emotions. Melissa will present a brief and entertaining grammar refresher and a review of literary techniques, as well as tips to clarify your writing process. Students will receive an annotated “best books about writing and creativity” list. In-class writing time will allow students to work on ideas generated in class or a current writing project (brought from home). Nicole and Melissa will listen, answer questions, and provide encouraging feedback.
NICOLE M. GNEZDA, PHD
Nicole is a creativity consultant, artist, writer, speaker, and a retired art teacher. She earned a Ph.D. in Creativity Studies from The Ohio State University. She is the author of Teaching Difficult Students: Blue Jays in the Classroom (Rowman and Littlefield) and a picture book entitled Create. MELISSA L. WEBER, MA
Melissa is a freelance writer and public relations consultant who spent more than 25 years as a communications director at Ohio State. Her publication credits include Home and Away, Columbus Monthly, Transformations in Nursing and Health, and multiple Ohio State alumni magazines. In addition to magazine articles, she has written video and radio scripts, speeches, news releases, brochures, web sites, and many communication and marketing plans.
