Your Writing Journey after a Hiatus

Monday, April 8 - 6:00 PM

Over 81% of Americans dream of writing the Great American Novel, but for many people it remains an elusive goal. Have you ever asked yourself if publishing a novel is truly your heart's desire or just a lofty dream that’s using up valuable headspace? If the answer is yes, read on!

In this workshop, participants will explore the birth of their desire to write, examine the reasons they’re not doing it (and who’s to blame!), and decide if writing that book can—possibly—live up to expectations.

Patti Flinn is a Columbus-based, award-winning novelist who earned her most recent award after re-starting her writing career in her fifties. With irreverent humor and honesty, she will guide participants in a fun, interactive session designed to start (or restart) their writing engine.

Participants will discuss, share, brainstorm, and leave with a plan for how to knock down the obstacles to writing that novel, if they truly want to take the plunge. Patti will share her own experiences, like the times she quit in disgust, the times she wondered if she was ever meant to hold a pen, and the times she returned to the craft with her tail between her legs. By exploring the unique challenges and motivations for writing fiction, participants will gain a better sense of whether the dream of writing a novel is ready to evolve from a bucket list item to become reality.
